Journal Update: Gaming and Streaming Journals

Hello everybody, Tsubaki here and back after an exhausting February. It is March and I have added two more journals to my lineup because I finally became consistent with gaming and streaming on Twitch. So this post is going to explain what is happening with the new gaming and streaming journals and each setup.

I will start with the gaming journal cause I honestly should have started this years ago when I got my PS3 or even when I finally got my first handheld. Either way, it is 2022 and I am now officially recording what I do in all the games I play every single day. For example, if I do play and grind with other people I will write it in for the day. So far thanks to all the mobile games I play each page at least has something for the day. The setup is a Hobonichi Avec PARCO x Pokemon LEGENDS for Jan-June in the Candy Stripper Spruced-up Cat A6 cover. I do plan on getting the other half of the Avec year to place in the Candy Stripper Sweet Bunny A6 cover. The cover always has stickers relating to Genshin Impact and other games I love. The Avec is helpful because I glue a lot of Instax photos of the games I play, which makes it very chunky. Super recommend trying this out to help memory keep all the fun gameplays you do with friends!

The other journal is the streaming journal which I started because of being finally back on Twitch streaming an actual schedule consistently. To keep me up with streams this journal helps a lot because I write down when I stream in the overview and monthly calendars and write exactly what I do each stream along with all the amazing people that subscribe to me. This setup just makes me happy because it is a Hobonichi A6 day free in the Forest Bear zipper cover. I am using the day-free notebook because I don't stream every day because I still work a full-time job and a lot of other stuff. Inside the front pockets, I keep the pair of secretary scissors with cute tsubaki memo notes, in the mesh pocket I have tsubaki washi tapes to use up and the little circle pocket in the back has a be right back note card I use for streams. The other pockets have postcards for my tier 1 subscribers and I plan on adding more stuff for my subscribers as I keep going.

Just remember to have fun journaling everybody! When you look back on your journals they will make you very happy <3

Hobonichi Whisker Cat Drawer Pouch Setup

At long last, I finally have a Hobonichi Drawer pouch after being super tempted by them for a while! In this post, I will break down and show a few setups!

I will be honest here when I say that this Whisker Cat design made me pull the trigger. Not only does it have cute little cat faces on it but the material for the whiskers sticks out the fabric and makes it so much cuter!

I got the Whisker Cat only in the small drawer size cause of the price which is about $50 not including shipping, it is big enough to fit my beloved PSvita, and cause I don't need a lot of pockets and card slots.

PSvita setup:

Yes, I originally bought this to carry around my PSvita which needed a new carry pouch as the old one looks worn for wear. Now it is well protected in this cute pouch. In the pockets, I have my little holder with cartridges, a memo notebook for game notes, and a screen cleaning cloth. On the right is my PSvita ready to be played.

Journaling on the go setup:

When I plan on journaling outside I grab some supplies and stick them in here. Washi tape samples, ephemera, and some stickers are in the pockets while my glue stick pen, portable scissors, Dotliner adhesive, MU Print-On wooden stick, and clips in the mesh pocket.

Ink swatching setup:

I hope to try this setup when I meet up with other people to trade inks or when I visit a shop that would allow me to try inks. I hope to try many different brands this year so trading will help me try as many as possible! Inside the pockets will be a wiping cloth, a pen rest, and some papers to try inks on. In the mesh pocket will be a Tachikawa nib holder with the Kakimori brass nib. Hopefully, in the future, I can also have a glass nib pen in here but it is risky to travel with them as they might break.

I really adore this pouch and can't wait to use it so much now in 2022! Happy New Year everybody and remember to stay hype!

October Hobonichi Techo Update with 2022 Lineup

Welcome back! This is a continuation of what I decided on getting this year from Hobonichi! If you didn't see what I ordered in September please check it out here.

I ordered the majority of what I wanted in September because the rest I wanted to be released in October which was the Inuyasha release. I grew up watching the anime and when I saw this cover all of it just came back to me in great memories so I had to get it with accessories.

I will start with the major item which is the Inuyasha cover, Successor. Please note I did get this in A6 because it is my favorite notebook size. It features the manga art of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru on the front with a white background. The inside is red like Inuyasha's Robe of the Fire Rat which is paired with a white magatama charm bookmark. This came with its own cover on cover that adds clouds and the title art of the front of the cover making it look like a manga volume! The cover alone feels really nice, almost like waterproof material. If anybody is wondering what I am using this for, it has a Hoboonichi plain notebook in it and I write about articles I find.

I added a Sesshomaru mascot which I had ordered it from a personal seller.

The Inuyasha pencil boards came in all sizes but I only got it in A6 cause I felt like the red paired well with the red inside of the cover. The front and back feature different characters.

I had to get the Myoga sticky notes. I adore that they made Clear Sticky Note sets featuring Myoga the flee cause I think it's super cute.

The last accessory I got was the Inuyasha Stamp set which I love so much. The smaller stamps fit in the Hobonichi weeks so nicely and the stamps are really nice quality. I would recommend people at least get the stamps even if they can't get the cover since you can get a lot of use out of it. I feel like I might end up finding something to hold these in because they are really long stamps.

September Hobonichi Techo Update with 2022 Lineup

It is finally Hobonichi planner season! Please note that I will be doing another one for October as I did order again! Everything in this post will be things that were released in September which are some covers, notebooks, and accessories that came out this year. All items were purchased from the offical Hobonichi Techo website.

To start, yes, I did get a new cover this year because I love Candy Stripper and how they have such cute little details made on the covers. To match the Spruced-Up Cat I got last year I got the Sweet Bunny only in A6 size. As a little note, I did sell the A5 size Spruced-Up Cat cover as I came to realize I barely use A5 size and much prefer A6, thankfully it is rehomed <3

Next are the weeks I will be using next year as a planner for my tasks, events, and reminders which is the Leather Cinnamon Beige! It took me forever to figure out which weeks I wanted to get but ended up on this because it matches my Steiff wallets which  are my everyday carry. I have been embracing my love for browns and I think I might keep this up! The weeks have been handy cause I used the clear corner adhesive pocket to hold my vaccination card which they check every time you sit down at places.

Now for possibly the biggest thing I got in the September release which is the Hobonichi 5-year Techo and Search and Collect cover! What I plan to do with this is to use it as a sustainable lifestyle tracker for the next five years. It will document all the changes I make in my life, environmental events, and other sustainable news. I love the button on the Search and Collect cover along with how the pattern on the cover is a mix of blue and green as if to mimic the sky and Earth. I am super excited to write in this every day that I also bought the small Hobonichi Techo gift bag to protect it while not in use.

So excited I even made up my mind on which pen I will use with it!

Besides more cover on covers, the Shaun Tan Pencil Board from last year and Rivet Band Laccios I got the Hobonichi Plain Notebook -  Wish Upon a Star by Yuka Hiiragi in A6  and the Omiya Yogashiten Hobonichi Paper(s). I always get the Hobonichi Paper(s) to stick my little art pieces inside but the Wish Upon a Star was so cute I just to get it! I grabbed the Reflect Brass Button cause it is so cute and I want to stick it somewhere, might try to stick it on the gift bag.

Updates to my Hobonichi Weeks

Over these few years of using Hobonichi Techo planners I am finally comfortable with what I am doing for a daily journal and planner, however, what I am writing in my Hobonichi Weeks specifically is what I want to address in this post.

I love the size and format of the Hobonichi Weeks and it is an even great bonus that I can use my Stieff wallets with them as an everyday carry with credit cards, cash, and the Hobonichi memo pad for grocery lists. I will keep using this as it has been very helpful with tracking my chores and things around the house, but I will stop writing down my expenses on the note page as well as my financial summary in the back extra pages.

Having to write down all of my expenses on the note page really made me tense as I was constantly worrying about how much I was spending on a weekly basis. I now moved all that information to an online excel file and the note page is now open to inspire me with motivation quotes and one important thing I hope to complete each week. I feel like if I complete one small thing I will feel very proud of myself looking back especially now when I am very stressed about work and health-related things.

Before I was using washi tape and wooden stamps to fill in space but now I took it a step further and started coloring with markers and hopefully in the future with fountain pen ink. Seeing all the different colors makes me relaxed especially when I take a minute a day to color in the spaces and decorate it.

Sometimes we need space, a little bit of time, and empty pages for us to start playing with what we have and the creativeness starts to flow. Hope that next year I can keep this up and fully enjoy the process. Hope you enjoyed this post and remember to stay hyped!

Techo Kaigi: Journals in Review 2021

It is almost August as well as time for 2022 planners to be available, so I thought it would be nice to give a full review of all my planners that I used this year and what my plan is for next year. 

Just as an overview I have been using one Hobonichi Mega Weeks, one regular Hobonichi Weeks, and a Hobonichi A6 English Techo.

To start I got the Hobonichi Mega Weeks for personal chores, housework/housekeeping, and tracking expenses. The calendar was used to track holidays, birthdays, vacations, and events. The daily rows were for me to write my chores, events, and when I was hanging out. The note page on the other side was to write all my expenses that week and budget my paycheck when it comes in. The extra pages were used for writing all the random items I wanted to buy and the reasons why, which helped me stop impulse buying a lot, and reviewing my budget every month. I love how I have been using this and I feel like I can add even more. 

I plan on continuing to have a Hobonichi Mega Weeks but I will add my TCGPLAYER online shop TsubakiCards, my Mercari, and all the little bits of side hustles. My paycheck budget will also be moved to the extra pages so any side hustles expenses can be on the same page as my personal expenses. Next year I might reorganize the extra pages by month so it will be easier to keep track of when I wanted to buy something and how my budget changes month to month. I want this to be my overall planner where everything else besides my day job lives. My day job is in a FiloFax and there is nothing to talk about there cause it’s boring but it works for me.

The regular Hobonichi Weeks was only used to track tasks for my TCGPLAYER shop and side hustles but it failed because there is not that much to write about in general. My small tasks of shipping orders every other day barely fills the rows and my expenses for the shop are very far and in between making the book very empty even in the calendar as trading card release dates are sprinkled around. 

This will not be continued as a separate weeks but combined in the Hobonichi Mega Weeks. I plan on using different ink colors to separate my side hustles and to make it look more organized. This kinda works out cause I am trying not to spend a lot during the next Hobonichi release cause of how high shipping is.

Last but not least is my Hobonichi A6 English Techo. I loved this so much, I have been writing, drawing, and pasting ephemera every single day in here so are no major issues. However, I do not like that the format gives me less space on the page with the quote at the bottom and how big the heading is at the top. I also stopped using the calendar altogether and the tracker in the front, I just never keep up with it plus I have the calendar in the Weeks to use. 

This format will be continued but with a Stalogy 365 in A6 size as it is fountain pen friendly and gives me more of the page. It also doesn’t have monthly calendars so each and every page of this will be just my journaling. I will see if it can handle everything I stuff in my journal and will update if it works.

Hobonichi x Steiff 2018-2020 review

After a lot of searches and saving up, I finally obtained all of my grail Hobobocni covers and wallets which is all the Hobonichi x Steiff A6 covers and wallets along with the teddy keychains that came out along with the Trinity theme. Since I have these now I want to give my complete review.

Note I did love the Steiff A6 techo even if the only difference was the bear symbol instead of the Arts and Science symbol and completely adored the Hobonichi Weeks with the fabric that they did in 2020 with the chocolate theme and 2019 with Sunday Best Teddy theme. Really wish that they would continue those even if they don't make any more wallets and covers because they looked very nice.

The teddy keychains were very difficult to get as they were a Japan only item, so I had to resort to eBay where the price is very inflated. The clasps on them are very well made and they are the same quality as small Steiff bears but even smaller! 

The covers are only in A6 size which is perfect for me as I love writing and journaling in A6. I do use A5 but for studying and keeping up my education and learning. I believe this is due to the fact that they are made of mohair which is specifically the hair of an Angora goat which is expensive. The hair is soft, has a bit of shine, and holds up well but in the end, this is a luxury fur. I have a feeling that if they did make an A5 size the cover would have been $500 USD which is taking into account that the A6 size and wallet goes for around $200. 

The sheen in the mohair is really noticeable in 2018 as well as the Cafe Au Lait cover and wallet which is very nice but also makes it difficult to get the color accurate in pictures with certain lighting. 

The Trinity cover and wallet in 2020 are unique as they used curly mohair which gives this amazing texture. All of the covers and wallets are soft but running your fingers on the Trinity cover and wallet is very nice. The rich chocolate color only makes you want to touch the cover and enjoy the curls. The Trinity cover is the only one with three book marks instead of the usual two! 

The 2018 cover is the only one out of everything that doesn't have the keychain ring but I love that they made a black mohair cover since it is the most natural fur colors and relates to the misunderstood near which is the teddy bear of Hobonichi! Hope to one day get the Misunderstood Bear teddy bear but it will be a challenge unless Hobonichi brings it back.

The covers have fewer pockets than most of the other Hobonichi covers cause they only have them on the right side instead of both sides. This is fine cause the inside is leather. The wallets have many card slots and spaces to hold cash, receipts, and other important items along with your Hobonichi weeks. The wallet is almost like a clutch that you carry in your hand while outside just without the strap. The pen holder is big enough for a pen clip so if you want to carry a pen with your weeks it is best to get a pen with a sturdy clip.

Overall I am so happy to have these and will continue using them for as long as possible cause I don't think I will buy any more covers after this. I do recommend these especially for Steiff fans and collectors cause now you can journal and write with covers that remind you of a nice cuddle teddy.
