This month is running away from me but as of this post, this is the final fountain pen left to review in my fountain pen collection! This one is very special and it is the Pelikan M800 in Brown-Black.
Thankfully I was able to get this from Goulet Pens on sale for $350 when the retail price is within the range of $600 to $650. Currently, this is sold out but other retailers like JetPens might have it in stock. This is a large size pen but it is not the largest model Pelikan has to offer plus it is part of Pelikan's Souveran line. It is a piston filler but it is such large capacity that I think it beats the TWSBI 580AL. The price is very much worth everything single detail in this pen which I will go over along with pictures.
Now the name doesn't justify how gorgeous this pen is in real life. The pen is actually a mix of brown, dark brown, and gold trim. The cap, grip, and filler knob are solid dark brown while the rest of the body is this lovely array of brown and black stripes making it look mesmerizing. When I first saw it all I could think of it that this pen looks like a coffee lover's dream topped up with a gold clip, trim, and a two-tone nib! Personally, I have been looking for a nice brown pen and this one took my heart.
The nib deserves a reward, it writes beyond smooth I almost couldn't believe it. The nib is two-toned with Pelikan's unique design engraved in the nib. I did get a fine nib as I usually do and I must say that this fine is actually more of a medium than anything but I surprisingly don't mind. I have been loving using Robert Oster inks in this and Cafe Crema is my favorite brown.
Love writing with this, but I think I like to have it uncapped cause it is a heavier pen. However, this holds so much ink that it is very much worth it. This is also pretty easy to clean ad fill than I expected.
Overall I super recommend this pen especially if people can afford it. I know this is a bit pricey but the amount of detail and how amazing it writes will surely take your heart!
