Pilot Capless Bamboo Forest with Grind from CY at TokyoStationPens

Look who is back with another pen! To start I can't believe it is 2022 and I am actually doing another fountain pen review. In late 2021 I thought I was not going to get any more fountain pens for a very long time, until I saw the Japan limited Pilot Capless in Bamboo Forest. It was selling out quick but I still took my chances by asking CY from TokyoStationPens if he could grab it for me. Clearly, because I am writing this post, my luck was good and I have this stunning pen!

As always I like to be transparent about the price I paid. I paid $380 which shocked me cause I thought it would have cost more because it was a limited pen, I was ready to hear at least $500. Not only is it a limited pen it comes with three 15ml bottles in a box set! All I can say is WORTH IT. CY's grinding service was amazing and $30 which I will now plug his IG here so you too can see amazing grinds and nibbage on all the fountain pens. The shipping was quick considering how horrific shipping is right now and I am very happy with what I spent.

CY shipped it very well and I got the box in mint condition! Really like how Pilot made the box in different shades of green and all the contents were held in this cool layering of cardboard which was easy to remove to recycle plus reuse the box to hold other stuff. Inside is the pen, important papers, and three 15ml Pilot Iroshizuku inks: Ina-ho, Chiki-rin, and Shin-ryoku. If you wish to see the live unboxing please check out this link. Please do subscribe if you like me posting my streams <3

The pen is stunning with gold hardware and the pen body going from light to dark green as the bamboo forest thickens, so beautiful. The clip is right in the middle which works perfectly with my grip. I love the satisfying click it. It uses a Con-40 which is the only gripe I have but I will live with it cause it writes like a dream.

Ever since I got the Esterbrook JR Pumpkin Latte with the journaler nib, I have been wanting more italic nibs to make my handwriting look better. CY thankfully offers nib service and made the Pilot medium nib into an italic with 0.6mm vertical and 0.2mm horizontal line width. It is similar to the Esterbrook journaler nib but it is a wetter writer. Below is a writing sample with Ina-ho ink.

I love this pen so much it is now my Hobonichi weeks wallet companion and I use it every day. I very much recommend people try the Pilot Capless at least once, and if you find a color you really like you might find your next daily writer! On top of that huge thank you to CY for taking the time to get this for me and this amazing nib. Please check out his IG and the amazing podcast Tokyo Inklings where CY and Jacab at fudefan on IG update you on all the fountain pen news from Japan.

Happy Year of the Tiger and until next time everybody, stay hype!
